ABOUT ME
“If I were asked to name the chief benefit of the house, I should say: the house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace.” – Gaston Bachelard – Philosopher, Poetics of Space
Hi! I’m Carrie Kellerby, the president of Interior Monologues, Inc., and IM Design. I have been involved in the home building and design business off and on since I was a kid. I grew up in the building business and worked my way through college with a variety of jobs in real estate, architecture and home building. After a degree in Art History I worked for designers and in 2000 started Interior Monologues as a faux finish painter and design consultant. I’ve trained in the window covering and flooring business as well. For a number of years I specialized in new construction, but I also enjoy remodeling and updating projects.
In addition my interior design practice I am an artist and writer. I’m also a mom, with a grown son and a teenage horse-crazy daughter. She’s a talented artist and helps me navigate technology and the world of social media. In addition, I’m currently working on a PhD in the philosophy of domestic aesthetics. It sounds like a lot, but I’m pretty energetic. I still find time for gardening, reading, trail running and a yoga practice. In fact, it’s those last things that allow me to focus my full attention on whatever I’m doing in the present moment.
I am passionate about helping people create the home that fully expresses the life they love, the mindful intention of home. And I would love to meet with you and hear about your vision.
